What we collect: When you join, we store your name, suburb, and email address. When you vote or comment, we link those actions to your account.

Why we collect it: To show that real Upington residents are behind this platform's voice — the live member count, the suburb diversity. To prevent vote manipulation by bots or duplicate accounts. To contact you if there is a serious issue with your account.

Who sees it: Your name and suburb appear publicly on the comments you make. Your email address is private and only visible to the platform admin. We never share, sell, or trade your data.

Where it's stored: Google Firebase servers (Firebase Authentication and Firestore). Data may be processed outside South Africa subject to Google's terms.

How long: Until you delete your account. To delete your account, sign in and email the admin (contact below); we will remove your data within 7 days.

Your POPIA rights: You may request a copy of your data, correct it, or have it deleted. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).

This is a community platform. Anyone living in the Upington area is welcome to join. The purpose is to give residents a voice on issues that affect us all.

What you may not do: Post threats. Call for violence against anyone. Target people by their nationality, race, religion, ethnicity, gender, or sexuality. Post anyone's personal contact details or photos without consent. Use the platform to promote political parties or candidates. Spam. Create multiple accounts.

What happens if you do: Your comment is removed. Repeat offenders are banned and their data deleted. Threats of violence are reported to SAPS.

The platform's responsibility: We do our best to moderate but cannot review every comment instantly. We are not liable for content posted by members. Report problems via the contact details.

Your responsibility: What you post is your own opinion, not the platform's. You are legally responsible for your own words under South African law (Films and Publications Act, Equality Act, Cybercrimes Act).

If something is urgent: Don't post it here — call the emergency contacts on the homepage.
